"You can control yourself if you really want to. I'll tell you how I know you can control yourself. If you were in a full fledged emotional temper tantrum in your house and I knocked on your front door..... Come on! Let me tell you what, you would get control of yourself, and it would only take a few seconds."

#MainMessageForToday
Part of self control is the ability to control your emotions. Your emotions should not rule you.
But, a person who controls his or her emotions may seem insincere and aloof.
What is the "correct level of emotional control"?

"What’s the difference between motivation and discipline?  I like to think of discipline as 'what to do' and motivation as 'why to do.' ... So I think of self-discipline as teaching yourself self-control and shaping your behavior, so that you’re not a slave to your motivations. ... I think you find your motivations when you ask questions such as 'What do you want to do?' and 'What do you want to avoid?' and  'Why do you want to do that?' I think you encourage discipline when you ask yourself 'What’s the best thing for you to do?'

Response to question on discipline by LifeLessonsForAll.com's LessonsAsk...

Question: How do I improve my discipline?

Response:
Just like exercise gradually improves body tone and muscle, practicing control, restraint, and willpower improves a person's discipline. Discipline is control - the ability to control one's desires, the ability to say no, the ability to persevere.
To improve discipline, practice controlling negative urges and desires, practice giving up or sacrificing something you like for a short period, and practice sticking to a schedule or plan such as an exercise routine or diet plan. This could be done all alone or with the help of others.

Why is discipline important? Discipline teaches us to operate by principle rather than desire. Saying no to our impulses (even the ones that are not inherently sinful) puts us in control of our appetites rather than vice versa. It deposes our lust and permits truth, virtue, and integrity to rule our minds instead."
- John MacArthur
LifeLessonsForAll.com: Discipline is not just behavioral training but the "drive" that allows us to keep going when faced with adversity or difficulties, to control ourselves, and make right choices.

#LessonOfTheDay
Opportunities do not always abound so many people make or create their own opportunities.
This tends to be a "get up and get" or a "get out there and grab" attitude.
Creation of an opportunity could be marked by manipulation, deceit and other evil devices/methods.
An individual needs to maintain self-control and have good character. For example, a girl who wants to be with a man should not destroy his relationship with his girlfriend.LifeLessonsForAll.com
