"... [S]ometimes being able to brag about yourself is a good thing."
- Dr. NerdLove, The Art of Selling Yourself (Or: How To Brag Without Being A Jerk),

What do you include in your personal bio or statement?
What is included on your GooglePlus profile as "bragging rights" or on Twitter or Facebook?
Seems to come from several cultures/countries:

"The nice thing about egotists is that they don't talk about other people."
- Lucille S. Harper

"He who thinks he can find in himself the means of doing without others is much mistaken; but he who thinks that others cannot do without him is still more mistaken."
- Francois Duc de la Rochefoucauld

"We would rather speak ill of ourselves than not to talk of ourselves at all."
- Francois Duc de la Rochefoucauld

Feeling superior and an 'all about me' attitude may cause self-praise and boasting. And, self-praise and boasting may cause a person to have an 'all about me' attitude and a feeling of superiority. Seems circular and like a vicious cycle.

From the song 'Better Than You' by Conor Maynard feat. Rita Ora:

I can do it better than, better than you.
Better than, better than you.

"A man's praises have very musical and charming accents in another's mouth, but very flat and untunable in his own."

- Thomas Carlyle

"It is a hard and nice subject for a man to speak of himself: it grates his own heart to say anything of disparagement, and the reader's ear to hear anything of praise from him."
- Abraham Cowley

"Avoid making yourself the subject of conversation."
- Jean de la Bruyere

"The less people speak of their greatness the more we think of it."
- Francis Bacon

"Self-praise is for losers. Be a winner. Stand for something. Always have class, and be humble."
- John Madden

"There is not one wise man in twenty that will praise himself."

"Without humility there can be no humanity."
- John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir

"By humility and the fear of the Lord, are riches, and honour, and life."
- Holy Bible (KJV), Proverbs 22:4

"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth."
- Holy Bible (KJV), Matthew 5:5

A person does need a healthy sense of self. But there is no need to be egotistical.

From the song 'Don't Need You To Tell Me I'm Pretty' by Samantha Mumba:

I don't need you to believe in me to make me know I'm worth believing in.
I don't need you to lift me up high to know I can stand tall.

I can stand my own ground,
I can stand proud upon my own two feet,
Don't have to be part of somebody else to be complete,
What I really need comes from deep inside of me.

Don't need you to tell me I'm pretty to make me feel beautiful,
Don't need you to make me strong 'cause I'm strong all on my own,
Doesn't come from outside this beauty I know,
Comes from inside my soul.
Don't need you to tell me I'm pretty.
