Remember: even if there are disappointments along the way, it is important to stay motivated.

TIP #4: There is a time to kill, destroy and harm, meaning there may be legitimate reasons for such activities. However, in general, it is wise to stay away from evil activities and evil plans. In the short term, doing evil such as destroying the lives of others or bad-mouthing others may seem to be profitable and even satisfying. But, in the long run, it causes more harm to the evil doer.

From the song 'Anyway by Martina McBride:
You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach,
And you know it might not ever come your way,
Dream it anyway.
God is great, but sometimes life ain't good,
When I pray it doesn't always turn out like I think it should,
But I do it anyway,
I do it anyway.
This world's gone crazy and it's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today,
Believe it anyway,
You can love someone with all your heart,
For all the right reasons,
And in a moment they can choose to walk away,
love 'em anyway.
You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach,
And you know it might not ever come your way,
Dream it anyway.
God is great, but sometimes life ain't good,
When I pray it doesn't always turn out like I think it should,
But I do it anyway,
I do it anyway.
This world's gone crazy and it's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today,
Believe it anyway,
You can love someone with all your heart,
For all the right reasons,
And in a moment they can choose to walk away,
love 'em anyway.
TIP #3: People, events, or other things could derail the best plans. Many people plan ahead or take steps in advance to ensure some areas/aspects of a plan occur (at some minimum level). This usually involves developing contingency/backup/alternative plans.
Developing a contingency plan could prevent a lot of stress, panic, confusion and last minute decisions. For example, when purchasing a condo a long time ago, I fully expected to receive a benefit/grant to put towards the cost. I did not receive the grant which led to a mad rush to obtain additional financing. The process could have been a lot smoother had I developed a contingency plan.

A Time for Everything
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."
- Bible (NIV), Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

It makes sense that goals correlate to a person's life stage and situation. A student may set a goal (and have plans) to graduate on schedule. A woman about to be married may set a goal to have a memorable wedding within a specific budget. You may have to set goals you never expected to set or deal with situations you never dreamed of.

TIP #1:
A good way to set goals is to think of your long-term aspirations/wants/dreams and develop shorter-term goals or steps to achieve the longer-term goals. If, for example, a person wants to become a doctor, he or she would need to complete the required education to qualify for the job and then find a job. Each step could be a goal.
