On the path to full maturity...Not totally mature - immature in some ways, mature in some ways.

Song 'I am not a girl, not yet a woman' by Britney Spears:

"You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair."
- Douglas MacArthur
Do you think it is weird for adults to play video games (considered games for the young)?
Some people do. But research shows that adults who play video games are happier.

"... [G]aming adults have a daily chance to engage in playful behavior, similarly to how many of us used to play when we were younger. This stronger connection to your inner child can help you to be happier and enjoy life more fully."
- Kayla Matthews, 10 Reasons Why Adults Who Play Video Games Are Happier,
http://www.lifehack.org/articles/lifestyle/10-reasons-why-adults-who-play-video-games-are-happier.html
"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."
- Holy Bible, I Corinthians 13:11

"...Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth."
- Desiderata by Max Ehrmann

Knowing when to be immature or the realm to be immature........

How do you view older women who dress in young, hip clothes?
Should adult women give up young, immature clothing and instead choose to wear mature, matronly clothing after a certain age?
Is it wrong for an older, first-time bride to wear a dress a young bride would wear?

Article: Why DO young women go out dressed like this? We meet nightclubbers in four major cities to find the surprising and unsettling answer to the question despairing mothers are asking
By Tanith Carey for the Daily Mail,

"Maturity is knowing when to be immature."
- Randall Hall

"We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations."
- Anais Nin

She definitely learned the ropes and matured. Is she the same person?

Song 'Roar' by Katy Perry:

"Part of spiritual and emotional maturity is recognizing that it's not like you're going to try to fix yourself and become a different person. You remain the same person, but you become awakened."
- Jack Kornfield
"I don't think people change. I think they definitely mature. But I think the essence of what I am today is the same as when I was five years old. It's just maturity. I've become a healthier, fuller expression of that essence."
- Ricky Williams
"The great secret that all old people share is that you really haven't changed in seventy or eighty years. Your body changes, but you don't change at all. And that, of course, causes great confusion."
- Doris Lessing
LifeLessonsForAlldotcom: Mature adults seem to change their attitudes, opinions and views about life and what's important. This may be because of the lessons they learned. But some believe people do not really change with age. Could it be because some mature adults remain young at heart?

What are your views? What do you "see"?

From the song 'A Whole New World' by Paebo Bryson and Regina Bell:

A whole new world,
A new fantastic point of view,
No one to tell us no or where to go
Or say we're wrong daydreaming...

Shirley temple seemed different. She was childish and mature all at the same time.

Benjamin Button lived his life in reverse and it was not as rosy as one would expect.....

Movie: The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button

Is the answer to be more knowledgeable and mature but have a youthful body (basically live your life in reverse)?

"Life would be infinitely happier if we could only be born at the age of 80 and gradually approach 18."
- Mark Twain
LifeLessonsForAll.com: As an adult, would you want to be a child again to have the benefits/pluses of youth if you would also get the negatives (chilish behavior, temper tantrums etc.)?
"Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of facts within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity."
- Calvin Coolidge
"In youth we learn; in age we understand."
- Merie Ebner von Eschenbach
"No wise man ever wished to be younger."
- Jonathan Swift
LifeLessonsForAll.com: Does the biggest plus of age/maturity (knowledge, wisdom) outweigh the pluses of youth (energy, risk-taking etc.)?

"I want to see Christmas through your eyes.... I want to be a child again thinking the world was mine."
- Gloria Estefan in her song 'Christmas Through Your Eyes'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8J1nPEGHdq0

"Youth cannot know how age thinks and feels. But old men are guilty if they forget what it was to be young."
- J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
"Too many people grow up. That's the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up. They forget. They don't remember what it's like to be 12 years old. They patronize, they treat children as inferiors."
- Walt Disney
"[D]on't grow old. With age comes caution, which is another name for cowardice.... Whatever else you do in life, don't cultivate a conscience. Without a conscience a man may never be said to grow old. This is an age of very old men."
- Herbert Beerbohm Tree
"The young do not know enough to be prudent, and therefore they attempt the impossible, and achieve it, generation after generation."
- Pearl S. Buck
Picture by LifeLessonsForAll.com: Young people seem to take more risks and see wonder in the world. This may be because they tend to be more adventurous, inexperienced ("I can do anything" attitude), and gullible.

Song 'Would I Lie To You' by Charles and Eddie:

Look into my eyes
Can't you see they're open wide,
Would I lie to you baby,
Would I lie to you.

Don't you know it's true,
Girl there's no one else but you,
Would I lie to you baby,
Would I lie to you.

Everybody wants to know the truth,
In my arms is the only proof,
I've hidden my heart behind the bedroom door,
Now it's open I can't do no more.

"The rate at which a person can mature is directly proportional to the embarrassment he can tolerate."
- Douglas Engelbart
"A man should be able to hear, and to bear, the worst that could be said of him."
- Saul Bellow
"Maturity is reached the day we don't need to be lied to about anything."
- Frank Yerby
Adults are supposed to be emotionally stronger than children because they have experienced more struggles and pain....
"The turning point in the process of growing up is when you discover the core of strength within you that survives all hurt."
- Max Lerner
There are exceptions. Some children are mature beyond their years.....
Example: Annie in the movie 'Annie':
Annie experienced a lot at a young age. She was an orphan and had a difficult life.

Remember the stories Cliff told his children, especially Rudy, in The Cosby Show?

Cartoons and movies tend to protray an imaginary world where animals talk, teacups sing and dance, and mermaids and unicorns exist.
Example: Tom and Jerry cartoons

LifeLessonsForAll.com: The very young may not know the raw, naked truth about the world.
Adults tend to withhold disturbing information from children. Adults also make children believe in Santa Claus and tell them incredible stories.
From the song 'Young and Beautiful' by Lana Del Rey:

Will you still love me
When I'm no longer young and beautiful?
Will you still love me
When I got nothing but my aching soul?

It was a child who pointed out that the emperor was naked.

"Don't you understand that we need to be childish in order to understand? Only a child sees things with perfect clarity, because it hasn't developed all those filters which prevent us from seeing things that we don't expect to see."
- Douglas Adams
"Youth is a circumstance you can't do anything about. The trick is to grow up without getting old."
- Frank Lloyd Wright
"It's a pity that, as one gradually gains experience, one loses one's youth."
- Vincent Van Gogh
LifeLessonsForAll.com: Maturity has its benefits, but it seems like most people want to remain young/childish forever.
Back to posting here again after a shorter than expected break. Now catching up (repeating those scheduled posts in Tumblr that appeared on other sites yesterday).....
