I wanna be loved Not for who you think I am Nor what you want me to be Could you love me for me? Real love, with no strings attached, I wanna give you me heart, Don't want to take it back.
This is my chat, Been searching for a long long time For that oh-so-true love To comfort this heart of mine, No pretense stop wasting my time A virtuous woman is really hard to find.
I'm telling you lady, I'm only human, not looking for impossibility, Just a genuine woman with sincerity. Someone who is always near to hold me, Show me you care, up front and boldly, Don't shun my feelings, all the positive meanings, Love me morning, noon, all seasons.
"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, or a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
"He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who has never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had; whose life was an inspiration; whose memory a benediction." - Bessie Stanley
"If you have a good name, if you are more often right than you are wrong, if your children respect you, if your grandchildren are glad to see you, if your friends can count on you and you can count on them in time of trouble, if you can face God and say 'I have done my best,' then you are a success." - Ann Landers
"Leaders who win the respect of others are the ones who deliver more than they promise, not the ones who promise more than they can deliver." - Mark Clement
"The respect of those you respect is worth more than the applause of the multitude." - Arnold Glasow
"Probably no greater honor can come to any man than the respect of his colleagues." - Cary Grant
"Be beautiful if you can, Wise if you want to... But be respected -- that is essential." - Anna Gould
"Live your life in every way to earn and keep the respect of the people you respect." - Brian Tracy
#MainMessageForToday Be respected by your friends, your peers, your colleagues, and others. It is more important than you think.

This is demanding respect.....
From the song 'My Name Is Not Susan' by Whitney Houston:
Now Romeo you know I can't believe Your tongue would slip so easily , I know you think I ought to let it be But get it right, next time, That's the end of me.
My name is not Susan So watch what you say, If you still need her Then be on your way, Don't wanna hear about Susan, She's got nothin' on me, So show some respect for the love you receive, My name is not Susan.
Are there signs that indicate we want/demand respect? Or it is just verbal?
"You demand respect and you'll get it. First of all, you give respect." - Mary J. Blige
Signs of respect...
"Every culture interprets body language, gestures, posture and carriage, vocal noises (like shrieks and grunts), and degree of eye contact differently....In the Middle East, nodding the head down indicates agreement, while nodding it up is a sign of disagreement; in Japan, a up-and-down nod might just be a signal that someone is listening. The thumbs-up signal is vulgar in Iran. The "OK" signal made by forming a circle with the thumb and forefinger refers to money in some countries, while in others it's an extremely offensive reference to a private body part. Point with the wrong finger, or with anything less than your entire hand, and you risk offending somebody, and while some cultures value eye contact as a sign of respect, averting your eyes may be the sign of respect in others." - Molly Edmonds, How do culturally different people interpret nonverbal communication? http://www.howstuffworks.com/nonverbal-communication.htm
#MainMessageForToday
To receive respect, you should show respect for others (or give respect). How one shows respect differs from culture to culture. For example, making eye contact is considered a sign of respect in some cultures but may be disrespectful in others.

From the song 'Greatest Love Of All' by Whitney Houston:
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows, If I fail, if I succeed At least I'll live as I believe, No matter what they take from me, They can't take away my dignity. Because the greatest love of all is happening to me, I found the greatest love of all inside of me, The greatest love of all is easy to achieve, Learning to love yourself, It is the greatest love of all.
"Self-respect permeates every aspect of your life." - Joe Clark
“If you want to be respected by others, the great thing is to respect yourself. Only by that, only by self-respect will you compel others to respect you.” ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Insulted and Humiliated
“Respect yourself and others will respect you.” ― Confucius
"Respect yourself if you would have others respect you." - Baltasar Gracian
"Respect for ourselves guides our morals; respect for others guides our manners." ― Laurence Sterne
"Without self-respect there can be no genuine success. Success won at the cost of self-respect is not success for what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own self-respect."
- B. C. Forbes
"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" - Holy Bible (KJV), Mark 8:36
#MainMessageForToday When a person does not respect him or herself very much, it shows. Do you think older or mature women who wear revealing, sexy clothes respect themselves? What about people who beg in the street? Do you think they respect themselves? It is better to beg than to steal.
From the song 'Respect Yourself' by Huey Lewis & The News:
If you disrespect everybody That you run into How in the world do you think Anybody's supposed to respect you?
If you don't give a heck About the man with the Bible in his hand Just get out the way And let the gentleman do his thing
You're the kind of Know-it-all Want everything your way Take the sheet off your face, boy It's a brand new day
Respect yourself, respect yourself If you don't respect yourself Ain't nobody gonna give a good cahoot Respect yourself, respect yourself
If you're walking 'round thinking That the world owes you something 'Cause you're young You goin' out the world backwards Like your day when you first come here
You keep on talking 'bout the President You won't stop at pollution, no Put your hand on your mouth when you cough That'll help the solution
Oh, you cuss around women For you don't even know their names, no And you're dumb enough to think That'll make you a big old man, oh
Respect yourself, ah yeah You ought to respect yourself, yeah If you don't respect yourself Ain't nobody gonna give a good cahoot Respect yourself, respect yourself, yeah Respect yourself, yeah, respect yourself
What's happening to the world, yeah Nobody respects themselves You ought to respect your name You ought to respect yourself, respect yourself Respect yourself, respect yourself
"Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again." - Og Mandino

"Never lose sight of the fact that the most important yardstick of your success will be how you treat other people - your family, friends, and coworkers, and even strangers you meet along the way." - Barbara Bush
#MainMessageForToday Are successful people more respectful? Do they respect all people they come in contact with or just people who can benefit them? If they choose to respect only select individuals, that would make them manipulative.

Do you automatically respect people in authority, people with power? Maybe there is reason to believe we should question people in authority, but I am not sure it applies in all cases....
From the song 'Nobody Greater' by Vashawn Mitchell:
I climbed up to the highest mountain I looked all around, couldn't find nobody, Went down into the deepest valley Looked all around down there, couldn't find nobody, I went across the deep blue sea Couldn't find one to compare... to your grace, your love, your mercy, Nobody greater... nobody greater than you.
Searched all over... couldn't find nobody, I looked high and low... still couldn't find nobody, Nobody greater... nobody greater no... nobody greater than you.
"Nothing of real worth can ever be bought. Love, friendship, honour, valour, respect. All these things have to be earned." ― David Gemmell, Shield of Thunder
"We are usually mistaken in esteeming men too much; rarely in esteeming them too little." - Stanislaus Leszcynski
"Let every man be respected as an individual and no man idolized." - Albert Einstein
"I speak to everyone in the same way, whether he is the garbage man or the president of the university." - Albert Einstein
From the blog post 'Why I Won’t Teach My Kid to Respect Authority' by Kathleen Quiring:
I want my daughter to respect people. I want her to honour and cherish every person she comes into contact with, whether a newborn infant, a paraplegic old man, a homeless beggar woman, or an imprisoned felon. Every one of these people bears the image of God and therefore deserves respect. People in authority — parents, teachers, police officers, pastors, etc — don’t deserve any more or less respect than anyone else. In fact, I’m worried that instilling a strong sense of obedience towards authority can lead to blind, unquestioning acceptance of authority. And I want my child to have a healthy level of skepticism towards rules and the powers that be.
"As a child I was taught to respect my elders, people in authority, my parents, my sisters and my neighbors. I was also taught to love and honor God. I am talking about things like, when the elderly man or woman needs a seat; give them yours. Or when the teacher tells you to do something; do it." - Pamela Rose Williams, Bible Verses About Respect: 20 Helpful Quotes, http://www.whatchristianswanttoknow.com/bible-verses-about-respect-20-helpful-quotes/
#MainMessageForToday Clearly, we should show respect for people in authority - children should respect teachers, employees should respect their bosses etc. But should we blindly follow orders and other requests from people in authority because we respect them? What if it goes against your beliefs or the person in authority is doing it for personal gain?

"R-E-S-P-E-C-T Find out what it means to me R-E-S-P-E-C-T Take care, TCB.... I got to have A little respect" - From the song 'Respect' by Aretha Franklin https://youtu.be/_DZ3_obMXwU
Do you think William (Eddie Murphy's character in the movie 'Trading Places') deserved respect? How would you respond to a poor man on the street who picked up your bag?
"It's okay to disagree with the thoughts or opinions expressed by other people. That doesn't give you the right to deny any sense they might make. Nor does it give you a right to accuse someone of poorly expressing their beliefs just because you don't like what they are saying. Learn to recognize good writing when you read it, even if it means overcoming your pride and opening your mind beyond what is comfortable." ― Ashly Lorenzana
"Respect for ourselves guides our morals; respect for others guides our manners." ― Laurence Sterne
"A flippant, frivolous man may ridicule others, may controvert them, scorn them; but he who has any respect for himself seems to have renounced the right of thinking meanly of others." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
#MainMessageForToday A lack of respect for others can lead to much conflict. In general, people do not respond well to someone they believe is disrespecting them.
