Hard work, giving respect are examples of things we may not want to do but are things that are ought to do......

"Most of us don’t mind doing what we ought to do when it doesn’t interfere with what we want to do, but it takes discipline and maturity to do what we ought to do whether we want to or not."
- Joseph B. Wirthlin

"Confidence comes with maturity, being more accepting of yourself."
- Nicole Scherzinger

Some people are "born confident." Some are confident because of their experiences/maturity. Others feel confident because of the clothes they wear, the city they live in or people they socialize with.
What gives you confidence?

"A major advantage of age is learning to accept people without passing judgment."
- Liz Carpenter

When you accept people for who they are (their faults, different opinions etc.), you are being tolerant. Mature and disciplined people tend to be more tolerant.

When a person does not respect him or herself very much, it shows.
Do you think older or mature women who wear revealing, sexy clothes respect themselves?
What about people who beg in the street? Do you think they respect themselves?
It is better to beg than to steal.

"I've learned to get really good at this - say one thing when I'm thinking about something else, act like I'm listening when I'm not, pretend to be calm and happy when I'm really freaking out. It's one of the skills you perfect as you get older."

Interesting Fact:
In general, mature or experienced workers are expected to produce better/ higher quality work with fewer errors since they have been working for a longer period of time (and practice makes perfect).
Do you think this is true for fields such as information technology (IT) and nursing?

"We get most upset with those we love because they are close to us and we know that they are aware of our weaknesses... If only we could learn to live with our inadequacies, our frailties, our vulnerabilities, we would not need to try so hard to push away those who really know us."
- Desmond Tutu

"All my life I have been haunted by the obsession that to desire a thing or to love a thing intensely is to place yourself in a vulnerable position, to be a possible, if not a probable, loser of what you most want. Let's leave it ike that."
- Tennessee Williams
"To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken...."
- C. S. Lewis

"The secret to life; one can only see clearly with the heart. Anything that is essential is invisible to the eyes. How much time and effort you've spent on someone or something is what makes them so important."
- Michael Krol
"A person who only sees with his eyes and not his heart misses the details of beauty."
- Evie Lynn Fritz

#GrowingUp #Maturity #SelfDiscovery

From the song 'Coward Of The County' by Kenny Rogers:

His father told him:
Promise me, son, not to do the things I've done.
Walk away from trouble if you can.
It won't mean you're weak if you turn the other cheek.
I hope you're old enough to understand:
Son, you don't have to fight to be a man.

But, he discovered:
Sometimes you have to fight to be a man....
